Machine Wash Cold, Tumble Dry Low
I could have sworn my cell phone came with instructions indicating it was washing machine safe, but apparently I was mistaken. My wife heard a thumping in the dryer last Sunday afternoon… not a good sign. After verifying that it was indeed not our 4-month-old son (the proverbial “baby thrown out with the bath water”), she discovered my clean, shiny, and entirely nonfunctional cell phone which I had left in my jeans pocket. Fortunately, one of our phone lines with AT&T was eligible for an “upgrade” (i.e. two-year contract renewal) which qualifies us for a discount on a new phone.
I ordered the free phone - the exact same model I had just destroyed in the laundry - and within two days I was back in business. Fortunately I had a backup of my contacts that was only a few months old (thanks to my previous success with a Bluetooth adapter), and within three days I was back in business with a near-replica of my previous phone.
In case you’re wondering, I’ve sent the laundry-phone to FlipSwap. Due to the damage done to the phone, the best offer they could make me was to plant a tree on my behalf. Which is fine with me. That’s probably the most good that could have come of my absent-mindedness.

Family Blog
My wife and I have started a family blog at abctv.wordpress.com. It’s updated more than this one, so you may want to check it out. We’ll report on family stuff there, while I’ll keep my random thoughts confined to this dark, infrequently-visited corner of the internet.

Premonition
This week I decided to pick up a movie at Blockbuster on my way home from work. I have a Blockbuster Rewards membership which entitles me to a free rental of a non-new-release movie once each month. I often find it tough to pick out something that is not on the New Release rack.
